Medium Hold + Matte Finish
A lightweight styling clay that contains bentonite clay and purified beeswax to provide medium hold and a matte finish. Ideal for hair that requires volume and definition without worrying about product weighing it down (particularly finer hair types). Its smooth and creamy texture makes it easy to apply in short to long hair and can be used for combed or messy hairstyles. The clay will make hair feel fuller by adding extra body and thickness. Apply to towel-dry or dry hair for best results.
WORKS BEST WITH...
Great product! So far it works great on my frizzy curly hair.
I am a creature of habit so it takes a lot to get me out of my usual routine... be it food, workout or grooming, but MAN, OH, MAN! Mr. Pompadour did the job on me! I could not be happier... my hair had somehow sort of become immune to the products I had been using for several years, but my hair has new life and renewed volume and vigor! The Sculpting Clay, in short, kicks ass! Thank you!
This product came highly recommended, and I was really looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, the reality has proved to be somewhat disappointing. I have very fine hair that tends to look limp and frizzy without styling products, so I tend to use medium to high hold products that still allow me to play around and adjust throughout the day. My hair is also black, so I naturally gravitate towards matte finish products, as anything else just looks oily. What I found with the Sculpting Clay is that it does not provide enough hold for me to achieve the style I want, does not provide the lift I want for achieving volume, and despite being a clay, it looks and feels greasy in my hair, probably due to the addition of the bees wax. For the price I paid for this product, there are several other (and in my mind, better) products out there that work much better, and at the same or similar price points. Hanz de Fuko Claymation and Redken Rough Paste come to mind, with both products able to deliver better hold, better volume, the ability to rework your style, and a more matte finish. Sorry, Mr. Pomp, but this is a total miss for me. Upside: It smells nice?
Love to mix the beeswax with the clay. Makes my hair fuller and flexible. My go to hair products for sure.
How do I apply the Sculpting Clay?
Scoop a nickel-sized amount and spread through your palms or fingertips. Apply evenly starting at the crown and working towards the front. Use a blow dryer, either before or after applying product, to give extra volume, body, thickness and stability. Apply more if needed.
Can it be used as a pre-styler?
Yes, Sculpting Clay can be used a pre-styler in conjunction with another styling product. As a pre-styler, it is recommended to add the Sculpting Clay to towel-dry hair and proceed to blow dry the hair into its initial shape and to get volume. Then finish the overall styling with something like Natural Beeswax Paste for higher hold.
What type of finish does it provide?
It provides a matte finish that's not greasy looking and it won't leave sticky residue or flakes in your hair.
Does it wash out easily?
Yes, the Sculpting Clay is water-based and does not contain petroleum oil type ingredients which means it washes out easily with water.
What does it smell like?
It features a light lotion scent that’s not overpowering and won’t interfere with your cologne.
